The Journey to Mythical Island
Synopsis: The Broken Horizon
The Tempest was moving determinedly toward the edge of the map, sailing in waters no man had ever charted. The crew knew they were leaving the known world behind and entering an ocean where the rules were dictated by forces older than time itself.
The Mist of Echoes
Alistair and his crew face their first obstacle: a thick fog bank known as the Mist of Echoes. Morgana warns that this fog is not natural; it has a life of its own and feeds on the fears of those who cross it. Inside it, the sailors begin to hear voices: murmurs, laughter and laments that seem to belong to their loved ones or their worst enemies.
A Key Moment : Isabella, despite her strength, hears the echo of her father, who reproaches her for having abandoned his kingdom. Alistair, for his part, hears the voice of a young cabin boy he lost years before in a storm, accusing him of having led him to certain death.
To escape, Morgana performs a ritual with Alistair’s enchanted compass, but warns that every use of the compass to manipulate the sea comes at a cost: “The ocean always takes what is hers.”
The Inverted Abyss
Overcome by the fog, the Tempest reaches a region where sky and water seem to merge. The stars reflected on the surface form constellations never seen before. However, this abyss is not as serene as it seems. Massive whirlpools begin to form around them, and the ship is pulled into a whirlpool that seems to have no end.
Alistair’s Decision : With the crew on the verge of panic, Alistair is forced to make an impossible decision: trust Morgana’s instincts or Isabella’s precise calculations to get out of the whirlpool. This creates conflict between the two, but they ultimately choose to work together, combining magic and logic to guide the ship into calmer waters.
The Broken Horizon
Finally, the Tempest emerges in a region where the waters appear calm, but the air is charged with energy. In the distance, the mythical island appears, floating amidst fog and flashes of light that make it seem unreal. Its shores are surrounded by boulders and a labyrinth of reefs that protect its entrance.
At this point, Isabella discovers an inscription on the map that reveals that the island is alive and that only those who “possess the mare’s heart” will be able to cross its barriers. Morgana interprets this as a warning: the island will test every member of the crew and will only allow passage to those who are worthy.
