Born in the heart of a neighborhood marked by violence and gangs, Ángel “Lil Santo” Medina grew up in the shadow of his older brother, El Tono, a respected leader on the street, but trapped in a world of danger. Since he was little, Ángel admired his brother’s strength and loyalty, but deep down, he knew that his destiny was not in gang warfare, but in music.
When he was just 10 years old, a gang brawl took El Tono’s life. Anger and pain enveloped him, but instead of taking the path of revenge, Ángel took a notebook and began to write. With each line, he spat out the reality of the neighborhood, the suffering of its people and the need to change the destiny of his people.
With a unique style, a mix of hip-hop, trap and drill, Lil Santo began to make a name for himself. His voice, deep and firm, with a razor-sharp flow, became the neighborhood’s loudspeaker. His bars not only told his brother’s story, but also called for unity, to leave violence behind and find another way.
