The Vision of Helmara

Synopsis: The Vision of Helmara

A Night of Uneasy Alliance

Despite the recent alliance, tension and mystery still hung in the air. The wolves rested in a vigilant circle, their eyes glowing in the darkness, while the human group recovered its strength beside the fire.

As the night deepened, the wind whispered through the trees. Exhausted from battle and travel, Thorlund finally fell into a heavy sleep.

But this was no ordinary rest.

Thorlund Enters the Dream Realm

Thorlund crossed into a dream realm shrouded in mist. A vast void stretched before him under a purple sky, where lightning flashed over distant, indistinct figures.

At the center of the vision stood Helmara — his foster mother and the witch who had shaped his destiny.

She wore a black robe carved with runes that glowed with golden light. Her eyes burned like liquid amber, and her voice rolled through the void like thunder.

“Child of rebirth,” Helmara said, “you have survived many trials. But what comes next will test not only your strength — it will test your soul.”

Thorlund lowered his head in respect. “Guide me, mother. What must I do?”

Helmara’s Prophecy

Helmara stepped forward and raised her hand.

“In the northern lands, beyond the frozen mountains of Helskorn, lies the Valley of Wandering Souls,” she said. “There, an enchanted ring waits. The gods forged it and demon blood consecrated it. Whoever wears it gains power great enough to rival Sigurd himself.”

She paused, and her voice grew darker.

“But no mortal claims this ring easily. Evil spirits guard it. They protect a power that was never meant for human hands.”

The Trials Ahead

With another gesture, Helmara summoned a series of visions before Thorlund.

He saw a black gorge filled with tormented souls. He saw an ancient temple whose runes moved like living things. Then he saw a giant spirit wrapped in fire, standing watch over the ring.

“These trials will not yield to brute strength alone,” Helmara warned. “You must use the magic I taught you. Shape the terrain. Call on the essence of the runes. Face evil in its own domain.”

Helmara’s Gift

Helmara lifted her staff, and a shard of light descended toward Thorlund.

“This vision is both a warning and a blessing,” she said. “I give you a fragment of my power. But your survival will depend on your mind, not only your weapons.”

Before she vanished, Helmara bowed her head slightly. Pride shone in her amber eyes.

“Remember this, my son: you do not walk alone. Your brotherhood gives you strength, but this challenge belongs to you. The magic you once ignored must now become your ally. The time has come to accept it.”

The Awakening

Thorlund woke with a start. Helmara’s words still echoed in his mind.

At his side, the Drengrsvard sword glowed faintly, as if her power had touched it in the dream. Around him, the wolves watched in silence while his companions slowly stirred from sleep.

Thorlund stood, his expression solemn, and called the group together around the campfire.

“I have seen a vision,” he said. “A new trial awaits us. This time, sword and shield will not be enough. We must face it with magic — and I will need all of you.”

The Brotherhood Responds

Sigrún raised an eyebrow. “Magic? I thought that was Helmara’s path. Why now?”

Thorlund met her gaze. His voice remained calm and steady.

“Because it is the only way to defeat Sigurd. And because this is bigger than us. In the mountains of Helskorn, a power waits for us — one we need. But the road ahead will be the hardest we have ever walked.”

Eirik slammed his axe into the earth and roared. “Then let battle come! No evil can stand against this group.”

Ivar, always sharp-minded, narrowed his eyes. “Then we fight differently this time. We think like Helmara — magic, traps, and trickery. If we want to survive, we must outwit our enemies.”

Toward Helskorn

Before dawn, the group prepared to travel north.

Fenrir’s wolves, led by Skoll, offered to guide them through the frozen passes. As they marched toward Helskorn, Thorlund began to practice the runic magic Helmara had shown him in the dream.

Step by step, he learned to summon small barriers and bend the wind to his will.

The path ahead promised darkness, spirits, and ancient power — but for the first time, Thorlund no longer feared the magic within him.
