SAGES is the fruit of a collaboration between Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds and Swedish singer Loreen. This project debuted with the release of a double single: “In The Sound of Breathing” and “Opening”, which are part of a three-song EP scheduled for release on March 21, 2025.
“In The Sound of Breathing”: was born in a single half-day session at Arnalds’ studio in Reykjavik, reflecting an immediate artistic connection between the two musicians.
“Opening”: is based on an instrumental piece Arnalds had composed years earlier and found its final form when collaborating with Loreen.
Both songs are accompanied by a short film directed by Thora Hilmars, inspired by the surreal “dancing plague” of Strasbourg in the 16th century, symbolizing the freedom and unbridled expression that characterize the duo’s creative process.
