Synopsis The Shadow Gate
When the group finally opened the massive obsidian door, the air temperature dropped abruptly. The entrance was a vast crack in reality itself, radiating shadows and distant murmurs, as if thousands of ancient voices were trying to reach the intrepid heroes who dared to cross it. The Shadow Gate was not just a gate, but a barrier between the physical world and the spirit realm, a place where the laws of time and space seemed to twist and warp.
A Vision of the Unknown
Crossing the threshold, each member of the group experienced a different vision: a glimpse of their greatest fear or, worse, their fate if they failed in their mission. Some saw their loved ones plunged into the shadows, others saw themselves trapped in a crystal prison in the afterlife. Only the leader of the group, thanks to his ancient mark of protection, managed to keep his mind on the mission and guide the others through the turmoil.
However, in the center of the room, floating on a black stone altar, was a dark mirror, known in ancient legends as the Mirror of Nihil. He who dared to look into it could see the truth of his existence, but ran the risk of losing his own soul in the process.
The Enigma of the Mirror
As the group tried to understand the purpose of the Mirror of Nihil, they encountered a hooded figure, a projection of a shadow being, the former gatekeeper. The figure warned them that the mirror had to be “fed” in order to cross through the final threshold of the Dimension of Oblivion. “Only he who is willing to lose himself in the darkness can open the passage,” it whispered to them in a voice that seemed to come from multiple ages.
Here, the group faced a dilemma: sacrifice one of their own to open the way or try to trick the mirror with an object of great spiritual value? Each choice had its risks and consequences, but the clock was ticking, and the dark energy of the place was slowly beginning to consume them.
Decision and Sacrifice
One of the members of the group, tormented by a life of wrong decisions, offers his soul to the mirror, convinced that this would be his only redemption. The darkness of the mirror absorbs him, and, as an even darker portal opens, his figure fades into blackness. With a last cry, the lost member warns the others of a presence in the dimension on the other side of the door, something far more ancient and powerful than they could imagine.
With the door finally open, the group takes a step into the unknown, but now they know that the Dimension of Oblivion is inhabited by things that even the shadows do not comprehend. Only the strongest will survive. Will they be able to overcome the shadows that stalk them or will they be lost in the depths of oblivion?
This part of the story introduces an emotional sacrifice and a major moral dilemma, preparing them for the next phase, where they will have to face the horrors and secrets of the Oblivion Dimension.
