The Tide Within

Song: Title: “The Tide Within”.
Synopsis Alistair’s Dark Past
Alistair was not always a privateer. He was born into a noble family in a small coastal kingdom, known for its devotion to the sea and its dangers. From a young age, Alistair felt a connection to the ocean, as if each wave whispered to him secrets of lost worlds. However, his life took a drastic turn when, during a rebellion in his homeland, his family was betrayed by close allies and his home was reduced to ashes.

With no other choice, Alistair fled to sea, where he learned to survive as a sailor. Although he began as a simple cabin boy, he quickly demonstrated an innate ability to lead and make decisions under pressure. However, the loss of his family and his kingdom left deep scars, which he carried in silence for years. That pain made him a cold, but fair man, capable of earning the respect and fear of those who followed him.

The Enchanted Compass
The compass that Alistair carries with him at all times is not a simple navigational tool. It is said to have been a gift from a sea sorceress in exchange for an oath. The compass can guide the bearer anywhere he wishes, but each use comes at a cost. The ocean, with its ancestral spirit, demands a sacrifice: a memory, a soul fragment, or even the life of someone close.

Alistair vowed to use the compass only in critical moments, but his possession has attracted the attention of many, both human and supernatural entities. The compass is deeply connected to the mythical island, and Alistair suspects that finding it could be the key to redeeming his soul and facing the shadows of his past.

Alistair’s Internal Conflict
Although he is a charismatic leader, Alistair struggles with feelings of guilt and a sense that he does not deserve the respect of his crew. His past as a nobleman haunts him, especially the decisions he made to survive, many of which involved betrayals and sacrifices that still weigh on him. The young cabin boy whose voice he heard in the Echoing Mist is a constant reminder of his greatest fear: being seen as selfish and unable to protect those he loves.

However, Alistair has one quality that sets him apart: his unwavering will. Although he is aware of his failings, he always rises to meet any challenge. This trait inspires his crew, especially Isabella and Morgana, who see in him a beacon of hope, even in the darkest of times.

The Relationship with Morgana and Isabella
Morgana, the sorceress on board, shares a special connection with Alistair. Although many in the crew distrust her because of her magic, Alistair has championed her presence. Morgana senses that there is something unique about Alistair, a spark that connects him to ancient forces, and her interest in the island goes beyond adventure: she wants to understand why the sea seems to have chosen Alistair as its champion.

Isabella, on the other hand, represents logic and reason. As a strategist and navigator, she is Morgana’s opposite. Her relationship with Alistair is marked by mutual admiration and, at times, tensions over their different approaches to problems. Isabella also has her own demons: she left behind a kingdom that depended on her, and her loyalty to Alistair is her way of finding a new cause to fight for.

The Mythic Isle Connection
The Mythic Isle is not just a destination; it is a living place that knows the souls of those who come near. The island has a link to Alistair’s compass, and its trials are specifically designed to confront each traveler with their deepest truths. In Alistair’s case, the island will not only judge him, but force him to face the darkest moment of his life: the instant he chose his own survival over that of his family.
