Synopsis: On the Road to the Island
The Tempest is being pursued by Kael Ardens and his Abyss Hunters. Alistar and his crew have not yet reached the mythical island, but they are close. Alistar does not want any of his men to be imprisoned for the mutiny, there is too much at stake, he has great respect for all his men, he understands what they are going through and the magic compass is the only key to navigate the last dangerous stretches and circumvent the trials of the island.
The Chasers of the Abyss finally reach the Tempest in a tense confrontation. Kael demands the compass in exchange for not sinking them, showing his naval superiority.
Alistair and Morgana’s Strategy:
Morgana suggests creating a magical replica of the compass. Using an illusionary spell, she can trick Kael into believing she has the real artifact. However, she warns that magic has a limit: if Kael attempts to use the compass before reaching the island, the deception will be discovered.
Isabella initially objects to the plan, but Alistair decides to go ahead. The fake compass is delivered during a tense negotiation on the deck of the Tempest.
The Dramatic Twist: Isabella as Hostage
Kael, suspicious by nature, is not satisfied with the compass alone. He takes Isabella hostage, demanding that Alistair and his crew not attempt to follow them.
The Tempest is morally divided: the crew is relieved not to have lost the royal compass, but the loss of Isabella raises doubts about Alistair’s leadership.
Espionage and Magic:
Morgana plans with Alistair to use a spell to track Isabella through a small object she was carrying (a ring). This allows them to follow Kael’s ship undetected.
Meanwhile, Alistair hatches a plan of deception: to make Kael believe he is being cursed by the fake compass. Using Morgana’s magic tricks, they generate illusions on the enemy ship (such as localized storms, whispering voices, or mysterious lights) to destabilize the crew.
A Stealth Attack:
The Tempest waits until night to approach Kael’s ship in complete silence. A small team led by Alistair boards the enemy ship while Morgana and the rest of the crew create magical distractions to confuse the Abyss Hunters.
During the rescue, Morgana causes the fake compass to “react” as if cursed, frightening Kael and his crew. This causes Kael to panic and order a retreat.
The Escape and The Aftermath:
Isabella is rescued, but not without cost. During the engagement, the Tempest suffers significant damage, and several sailors are injured.
Kael discovers the deception shortly after fleeing, and his fury promises a new confrontation later. He now has a clear objective: to capture the real compass and destroy Alistair.
Alistair and the crew, though relieved to have recovered Isabella, face new pressure: reach the island before Kael returns with more strength.
